06 April 2020 - Update #7

This is our latest email bulletin relating to the COVID-19 outbreak - for all the latest information about our services, how we can help you and links to national and local updates, please visit our dedicated webpage. The page also includes links to our previous coronavirus bulletins.

Feedback Survey

Thank you to all those who have already completed our coronavirus business impact survey. We value your help in understanding your intentions in relation to available Government funding, and your experiences in attempting to access relevant support. If you haven't yet done so, please complete the survey here

We will work with both Southampton City Council and the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government to provide business insight into the COVID-19 interventions and raise concerns accordingly.

Business Grants Applications

In our last bulletin we outlined eligibility guidelines for the Small Business Grant and the Retail, Leisure and Hospitality Grant (previous bulletins available here). Funding is still available for businesses via the Southampton City Council website, apply for the above grants here.

For details of other Government support available for businesses visit our COVID-19 webpage here or the Government’s Business Support website

BID News
  • From today our dedicated cleaning team will be steam cleaning all street furniture throughout the city centre. This includes spraying benches, bins and finger posts with disinfectants to help keep the city centre clean and safe. The team - Martin, Tyrone, Robert and Jim - will be working on this five days a week from 5.30am - 10.30am, taking extra precautions to stay safe by wearing the correct protective equipment. If you have any queries you can reach them via cleaning@gosouthampton.co.uk.

  • On Friday we launched a new B2C campaign via our Visit Southampton channels, encouraging people to upload photos showcasing the things they love most about the city, incentivised with a prize draw offering the chance to win a ‘welcome back’ package of prizes for when the city ‘reopens’. We’d love you to help promote this campaign by sharing on your own social feeds – view our Visit Southampton blog post for more details or email content@gosouthampton.co.uk

  • Our Operations Director, Rebecca Handley, is joining a National Business Crime Solution (NBCS) members’ call tomorrow, entitled 'Managing risk and crime in collaboration'. Our membership of the NBCS allows us benefit from shared intelligence on business crime and to liaise directly with head office retail contacts to ensure they’re aware of specific issues in Southampton and how we’re working to tackle them.
